BTA Trepanning System
Material-saving trepanning for large core recovery
BTA trepanning heads for large-diameter bore production while retaining a solid core. Ideal for expensive alloys, test specimens, and aerospace forgings where material recovery matters.

About BTA Trepanning System
Trepanning is a core-cutting process used when drilling large diameters — rather than removing all the material as chips (as in conventional BTA drilling), trepanning cuts an annular groove and leaves a solid core that can be recovered. This is economically critical when working with expensive alloys (titanium, nickel superalloys, tool steels), valuable test specimens, or when the core itself is needed for testing. PROEDGE supplies pneumatic roller scrapers in 63–120 mm sizes alongside trepanning heads, enabling complete trepanning operations within the BTA system framework. Trepanning is also used for large-diameter pipe production and in the nuclear industry for reactor vessel cores.
